History of Cheesecake
"Wow, that's better than Cheesecake" So said the Newspaper Photographer, James Kane who had a passion for Cheesecake when he was photographing an actress whose skirt blew up in the wind.

Greece -The Birthplace of Cheesecake

Cheesecakes date back to ancient Greece. The cakes were made with sheep or goat cheese, flour, and honey. They were baked and fed to runners during the first Olympic games in 776 B.C.

Romans-Expanded the Cheesecake Horizons

The Romans lightened the basic Greek recipe by adding eggs. They added pounded poppy seeds and a honey glaze to the top. The freshly made cakes were eaten with a sweetened spiced wine.

The Dark Ages- Cheesecake went below ground during the Dark Ages but resurfaced by the 11th-century.

Centuries later, in the late 1800's in New York, cream cheese was made commercially available. The marriage of cream cheese and the new immigrants from Europe led to the birth of the famous New York Cheesecake.
